Indeed, the best things in life are free. Hyundai Run for a Cause surpassed all expectations of the enthusiastic participants and proved to the few skeptics that they were wrong. As ordinary runners say, the 1st Hyundai Run is a wake up call to race organizers that a huge and well-organized free run as this is possible in the Philippines!
This is the BEST run I have ever joined.
Having 24,000 participants from all walks of life, the experience I had here was quite different. Majority of those who joined, I observed, were first timers as they were there only to have fun and to support the cause. There were friends, and there were families. I have never seen such a number of children in strollers being pushed by their parents, and as many individuals who were also running for their personal causes.
Those "elite runners" who are banging each other at the starting line and those "celebrity runners" who are seeking attention in the middle of the crowd, I did not see. They maybe running somewhere else. Everyone was so kind, from the runners, the hundreds of dedicated marshals, to the skilled photographers. It was impressive to see those thousands of runners coordinated and cooperated.
Running together with first timers Pete and Peter, who was so nice to accommodate us, and knowing that they enjoyed so much, is satisfying. There is this feeling of fulfillment that I am able to share my passion with them. Hyundai will not only sow seedlings for HARIBON. Furthermore, it has sowed the passion for running for a cause among many other first timers who did their baptismal run last Saturday.
(Postscript: Pete and Peter have registered in the GMA All-Star Kapuso Fun Run on April 10, 2011 at MOA Grounds. This for the benefit of Kapuso Para Sa Kalikasan Project)
