KM 0

I had an opportunity to see the KM 0 marker in Rizal Park when I attended the Hyundai Run for a Cause. The marker is just along Roxas Avenue across the Rizal Monument.

Arriving at Quirino Grandstand an hour before the scheduled fun run, we toured the area and found it. Before and after the race, runners took time to have a photo souvenir in this must-see landmark.

It is a runner's spot.

KM 0

Digdí minapoón an gabós
an pag-ruab, asín an pag-antós.

arog man kan mga dalágan sa kinàban
—an pagtubód asín an mga kamàwótan.

Gabós minapoón.

An paglakáw, an pagbakláy na manlainláin
siring man kun sainsáin minapasíring.

May marikás, siring may luwaylúway
igwá nin haláwig, igwáng halìpot man.

An pagdatóng, digdí an poón.

The English translation is here:

Everything starts from here
the rush, and finishing.

As to the runs in the world
—the faith and the aspirations.

Everything begins.

The walk, the journey that varies
that goes in different ways.

There are fast, as well as there are slow
there are long, there are short too.

The advent starts from here.

Here is another Bikol poem about running that I have written.
